4″ DC Solar Water Pump for NZ Bores, Irrigation and Stock Water
The 4″ DC Solar Water Pump by Deye is a submersible bore pump that runs directly from solar panels, with no inverter needed. Nine 750 W and 1500 W models cover everything from deep bores with up to 203 m of head to high-volume irrigation at up to 30 m³/h, for NZ farms and lifestyle blocks.
Key Features and Benefits
Direct solar DC operation, no inverter needed
The pump runs on pure DC power from your solar array through a matched solar pump controller. There’s no inverter, generator or grid connection to buy or maintain, and no fuel or power bill for pumping.
A model for every bore and water demand
The range includes high-head models for deep bores, balanced models for general stock and household water, and high-flow models that move up to 500 L/min for irrigation and tank filling.
MPPT controller for more water per sunny hour
Maximum Power Point Tracking keeps your solar array at its most efficient operating point as light levels change, so the pump keeps running at reduced flow in morning, evening and overcast conditions.
Efficient permanent magnet motor
A permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with sensorless field-oriented control gives smooth starts and efficient running from a variable solar supply.
Six built-in protection functions
The controller protects against over-voltage, under-voltage, overcurrent, low speed and open phase, with start-up control and reverse polarity protection. An indicator light alerts you to a reversed DC connection.
Plastic or stainless steel impellers
Choose plastic impeller models for an economical option, or stainless steel impeller models for the widest range of head and flow, including the deepest-lifting and highest-flow pumps in the range.
Who Is the 4″ Solar Bore Pump For in New Zealand?
- Pasture and crop irrigation: high-flow models move large volumes from shallow bores into irrigation lines or storage ponds.
- Stock water: pump from a bore to a header tank and gravity-feed troughs across the farm.
- Orchards and horticulture: fill storage tanks by day for drip or micro-irrigation.
- Off-grid homes and remote sites: supply household water tanks without a generator or expensive grid connection.
Solar pumps run in daylight only, so the most reliable setup is to pump into a tank or pond during the day. If you’re taking larger volumes of water, check with your regional council whether your water take needs a resource consent.

Total head is the vertical lift from the water level to the outlet plus friction losses in the pipe. Choose a model that delivers your required flow at your total head with some margin. Full performance curves are available in the manufacturer data sheets, including the 4PC-6T, 4PC-13T, 4SC-5.2T, 4SC-11T, 4SC-19T, 4SC-25T and 4SC-36T.

Installation, Warranty and Support in New Zealand
We recommend installation by a qualified installer or registered electrician. Solar array wiring in New Zealand should comply with AS/NZS 5033. Never lift or lower the pump by its power cable; use a stainless steel safety rope.
All purchases from Cybotix Energy are covered by your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. [CONFIRM: manufacturer warranty period and terms.] Not sure which of the nine models suits your bore? Contact our team with your bore depth, water level and daily water requirement, and we’ll help you size the pump and solar array.
What’s the difference between a 3-inch and a 4-inch solar bore pump?
The main differences are bore size and water volume. A 4-inch solar pump needs a bore casing of 4 inches or larger, but it can move much more water: the 4″ DC range reaches up to 30 m³/h, compared with under 5 m³/h for 3-inch models. If your bore is narrower than 4 inches, a 3-inch pump is the right choice.
How deep can a 4-inch DC solar water pump lift water?
The deepest-lifting model, the 4D1500/SC4.8-203, delivers up to 203 m of head, and the 4D1500/PC6-135 reaches 135 m. Flow drops as head increases, so check the duty point table for the flow you’ll actually get at your depth. Total head includes pipe friction losses as well as the vertical lift from the water level.
Which 4-inch solar pump is best for irrigation?
For irrigation from shallow bores, the high-flow stainless steel models are the best fit. The 4D1500/SC19-35, SC25-26 and SC36-22 move 140 to 400 L/min at low to moderate heads. For deeper bores, the 4D1500/PC13-60 or SC11-60 gives a balance of flow and lift. For larger water takes, check with your regional council about resource consent requirements.
Do I need an inverter or battery for a DC solar water pump?
No, the 4″ DC Solar Water Pump runs directly from solar panels through its matched MPPT controller, with no inverter required. You don’t need a battery for daytime pumping either. Most NZ users pump into a storage tank or pond during daylight and draw water from storage at night or on cloudy days.
Will a DC solar water pump work on cloudy days in New Zealand?
Yes, it keeps pumping on overcast days, but at a lower flow rate because the panels produce less power. The MPPT controller helps extract as much energy as possible in low light. The pump doesn’t run at night, so size your storage to cover a few days of poor weather, or consider a hybrid AC/DC model with mains backup.
How many solar panels do I need for a 4-inch DC solar pump?
Your solar array should have a total peak wattage slightly higher than the pump’s power rating, so around 750 W or more for 750 W models and 1500 W or more for 1500 W models. The array voltage must also fall within the controller’s input range. Contact us with your site details and we’ll size the array for you.
Should I choose a plastic or stainless steel impeller model?
Choose based on the head and flow you need, since each impeller type covers different duty points. Plastic impeller models are an economical choice for medium bores and moderate flow. Stainless steel impeller models cover the widest range, including the deepest-lifting pump (203 m) and the highest-flow pumps (up to 30 m³/h).
What warranty comes with the 4″ DC Solar Water Pump in NZ?
Every purchase is covered by your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty. If you have a problem with your pump or controller, contact Cybotix Energy directly and our team will help you with troubleshooting, repairs or a claim.
