Deye SUN-3K-SG04LP1-24-AU | 24V 3kW Single Phase MPPT Hybrid Inverter
Compact hybrid power for small homes and off-grid setups
The Deye SUN-3K-SG04LP1-24-AU is a 3kW single-phase hybrid inverter built for smaller systems that still want the full hybrid feature set solar, battery, grid, and generator management in one compact, IP65-rated unit. It runs on 24V batteries, pushes 140A of charge and discharge current, accepts up to 4,500W of solar input, and scales to 16 units in parallel. At just 17kg, it’s the entry point into Deye’s hybrid range without giving up the smart energy control that makes hybrid inverters worth having.
For smaller NZ homes, cabins, and off-grid builds or anyone starting a solar-plus-storage system on a 24V battery bank this is the right-sized hybrid brain.
Single MPPT, high-efficiency tracking
One MPP tracker (1 string) manages your solar array within a 150–425V MPPT range at up to 99.9% MPPT efficiency, with a 125V start-up voltage. For a smaller single-string system, one tracker is exactly what’s needed no wasted channels, and near-perfect tracking of your panels’ output.
Peak conversion efficiency hits 97.6% (96.5% Euro), so very little of what your panels generate is lost turning it into usable AC.
4,500W solar input 1.5× oversizing
The inverter accepts up to 4,500W of solar panel input on a 3kW AC output a 1.5× DC-to-AC ratio that captures more energy in the shoulder hours and under cloud, when panels produce below their rated output. More panels on the roof means more energy into your battery, even on average-sun days.
24V battery support with 140A throughput
Built as a true hybrid, the SUN-3K manages battery storage as a core function:
- Supports lead-acid and lithium-ion (24V) batteries — flexibility for any battery choice
- Self-adaptive BMS communication — automatic compatibility with your battery’s management system
- 140A max charge / 140A max discharge — fast, reliable power cycling
- Battery voltage range: 20–30V (24V nominal)
- Multiple batteries in parallel — expand storage as your needs grow
- 6 programmable time periods for charge/discharge scheduling
The scheduling is where the smart energy management lives: charge from solar during the day, discharge during peak pricing, and hold a reserve for backup all on a timetable you set, tuned to your power rates and usage.
Scales to 16 units in parallel
Start with one, grow as needed. Connect up to 16 SUN-3K units in parallel for both on-grid and off-grid operation scaling the system to 48kW for larger installations or phased builds. That parallel capability means the inverter grows with your system instead of being replaced by it.
2× peak power for surges
In off-grid mode, the inverter delivers twice its rated output (6kW) for up to 10 seconds enough surge headroom to start motor-driven appliances like pumps, fridges, and power tools that would trip a lesser inverter on start-up.
AC-coupling for existing solar
Already have a solar system? The SUN-3K supports AC-coupling, letting you add battery storage to your existing setup without replacing your current inverter. Retrofit storage, don’t rebuild the practical upgrade path for homes that went solar before adding batteries.
Generator integration
The inverter can store surplus energy from a diesel or petrol generator, keeping your batteries charged when both solar and grid are unavailable. For off-grid and rural properties, that’s genuine energy security through extended cloudy stretches or long outages.
35A AC passthrough
A 35A continuous AC passthrough lets substantial grid power flow through to your loads even when solar and battery aren’t contributing important for maintaining supply to a small home’s baseline consumption.
IP65 install indoors or out
The IP65-rated enclosure seals against dust and weather, so the inverter mounts confidently on an exterior wall, in a garage, carport, or outbuilding no separate weatherproof cabinet required.
Colour touch LCD
A vibrant colour touch LCD on the front panel gives real-time monitoring and control check solar generation, battery state, grid flow, and adjust settings at a glance, without reaching for a phone. At 17kg and 330 × 433 × 229mm, it’s light and compact enough to mount easily.
