Deye SUN-3.6K-SG04LP1-AU | 3.6kW Single Phase Hybrid Inverter 2 MPPT

Compact hybrid power with dual MPPT small unit, real capability

The Deye SUN-3.6K-SG04LP1-AU is a 3.6kW single-phase hybrid inverter that packs the full solar-plus-storage feature set into a compact 17kg unit with the added flexibility of dual MPPT tracking. It manages solar, battery, grid, and generator in one IP65-rated box, accepts up to 5,400W of PV input across two trackers, and scales to 16 units in parallel. For smaller homes and off-grid builds that want more solar flexibility than a single-tracker inverter allows, this is the right-sized hybrid.

For NZ homes, cabins, and off-grid setups on a 48V battery bank, the SUN-3.6K delivers proper hybrid intelligence in an easy-to-mount package.

Dual MPPT two trackers on a compact inverter

Unlike most inverters in its size class, the SUN-3.6K has two independent MPP trackers (1+1 strings) with a 150–425V MPPT range and up to 99.9% MPPT efficiency. That dual-tracker design means you can split your panels across two roof orientations or tilt angles — north and west, say — and each string runs at its own peak without the other holding it back.

For real-world NZ roofs that rarely offer one perfect plane, having two trackers on a 3.6kW inverter is a genuine advantage. Peak conversion efficiency reaches 97.6%, so very little is lost turning solar into usable power.

5,400W solar input 1.5× oversizing

The inverter accepts up to 5,400W of PV input on a 3.6kW AC output a 1.5× DC-to-AC ratio that captures more energy in the shoulder hours and under cloud. More panels feeding the system means more energy into your battery, even on average-sun days.

48V battery support with 90A throughput

Built as a true hybrid, the SUN-3.6K manages battery storage as a core function:

  • Supports lead-acid and lithium-ion (LV) batteries — flexibility for any battery choice
  • 48V low-voltage battery (40–60V range)
  • Self-adaptive BMS communication — automatically charges your lithium battery the right way, safely and efficiently
  • 90A max charge / 90A max discharge — solid throughput for a system this size
  • Multiple batteries in parallel — expand storage as your needs grow
  • 6 programmable time periods for charge/discharge scheduling

The scheduling lets you charge from solar (or cheap off-peak grid power) during the day and discharge during expensive peak periods — squeezing maximum value from every stored kWh.

Scales to 16 units in parallel

Start with one and grow. Connect up to 16 SUN-3.6K units in parallel for both on-grid and off-grid operation, scaling the system as your home or site expands. The inverter grows with you rather than being replaced.

2× peak power for surges

In off-grid mode, the inverter delivers twice its rated output (7.2kW) for up to 10 seconds enough surge headroom to start motor-driven appliances like pumps, fridges, and tools that would trip a lesser inverter.

AC-coupling for existing solar

Already have solar panels? The SUN-3.6K supports AC-coupling, letting you add battery storage to your existing system without replacing your current inverter. Retrofit storage onto a system that’s already generating.

Generator integration

The inverter can store energy from a diesel or petrol generator, keeping batteries charged when both solar and grid are unavailable — genuine backup security for off-grid and rural properties.

35A AC passthrough

A 35A continuous AC passthrough lets substantial grid power flow through to your loads even when solar and battery aren’t contributing — keeping essential appliances running smoothly.

IP65 install indoors or out

The IP65-rated enclosure seals against dust and weather, so the inverter mounts confidently on an exterior wall, in a garage, carport, or outbuilding no separate weatherproof cabinet needed.

Colour touch LCD

A vivid colour touch LCD makes monitoring and setup genuinely simple check solar generation, battery state, and grid flow, and adjust settings at a glance. At 17kg and 330 × 433 × 229mm, it’s light and compact enough to mount easily.
