The Deye SUN-3K-SG04LP1-AU is a 3kW single-phase hybrid inverter built around 48V battery storage managing solar, battery, grid, and generator in one compact, IP65-rated unit. It accepts up to 4,500W of PV input, pushes 70A of charge and discharge current on a 48V bank, and scales to 16 units in parallel. At just 17kg, it brings the full hybrid feature set to smaller systems without the bulk or cost of a larger inverter.

For NZ homes, cabins, and off-grid builds on a 48V battery, the SUN-3K is a right-sized, easy-to-install hybrid brain.

High-efficiency MPPT tracking

The inverter’s MPPT tracks your solar array within a 150–425V range at up to 99.9% MPPT efficiency, with peak conversion efficiency reaching 97.6%. That means very little of what your panels generate is lost turning it into usable AC more energy to run your home or top up your batteries.

4,500W solar input 1.5× oversizing

The SUN-3K accepts up to 4,500W of PV input on a 3kW AC output a 1.5× DC-to-AC ratio that captures more energy in the shoulder hours and under cloud, when panels produce below their rated output. More panels feeding the system means more energy into your battery, even on average-sun days.

48V battery support with 70A throughput

Built as a true hybrid, the SUN-3K manages battery storage as a core function:

• Self-adaptive BMS communication — automatically charges your lithium battery the right way, safely and efficiently

The scheduling lets you charge from solar (or cheap off-peak grid power) during the day and discharge during expensive peak periods maximising the value of every stored kWh.

Scales to 16 units in parallel

Start small, grow big. Connect up to 16 SUN-3K units in parallel for both on-grid and off-grid operation, scaling the system as your home or site expands. The inverter grows with you rather than being replaced.

2× peak power for surges

In off-grid mode, the inverter delivers twice its rated output (6kW) for up to 10 seconds enough surge headroom to start motor-driven appliances like pumps and compressors that would otherwise trip a lesser inverter on start-up.

AC-coupling for existing solar

Already have solar panels? The SUN-3K supports AC-coupling, letting you add battery storage to your existing system without replacing your current inverter. Going hybrid doesn’t mean starting over retrofit storage onto a system that’s already generating.

Generator integration

The inverter can store energy from a diesel or petrol generator, keeping batteries charged when both solar and grid are unavailable a true all-weather, all-source backup plan for off-grid and rural properties.

SUN-3K 48V vs SUN-3K 24V which do you need?

Deye makes two 3kW SUN-3K hybrids that differ by battery voltage:

• SUN-3K-SG04LP1-AU (this model): 48V battery, 70A charge/discharge pairs with 48V battery banks, the more common choice for new home systems
• SUN-3K-SG04LP1-24-AU: 24V battery, 140A charge/discharge for existing 24V battery banks and smaller setups

Choose based on your battery bank voltage. If you’re building fresh, 48V is generally the more efficient, future-friendly choice; if you already run 24V batteries, the 24V version matches them.
