BLUETTI Charger 2: 1,200W Alternator and Solar Charger for Power Stations
The BLUETTI Charger 2 is a dual alternator and solar DC charger that charges a portable power station at up to 1,200W while you drive. It combines 800W of alternator input with 600W of solar input, adds 12V/24V DC output through a DC hub, and suits NZ campervans, 4WDs and caravans.
Key Features and Benefits
Alternator and solar charging at the same time
Connect your vehicle’s alternator and solar panels together, and the Charger 2 combines them for up to 1,200W of charging. There’s no need to switch between sources or unplug cables. A standard 12V car socket typically delivers only around 100W.
800W alternator input for 12V and 24V vehicles
The alternator port accepts 12V systems (12.8V, up to 62.5A) and 24V systems (25.6V, up to 31.3A), for up to 800W. That makes it suitable for everyday vehicles, utes and 4WDs as well as trucks and larger motorhomes.
600W solar input
Connect up to 600W of solar panels (13–50V, 20A) to keep charging when you’re parked at camp.
Auxiliary battery port
The BAT port charges and draws from an auxiliary or house battery at up to 1,000W, so you can integrate an existing 12V, 24V or 48V battery bank into your setup.
12V/24V DC output through a DC hub
Pair the Charger 2 with a BLUETTI DC hub such as the Hub D1 for up to 600W of DC output, shared across USB-A, USB-C, cigarette lighter, DC5521 and 50A Anderson ports. That’s ideal for running a car fridge, lights, fans and pumps directly.
Built-in protection
Short circuit, reverse polarity, overcurrent and over/under-voltage protection, plus a 75A fuse, protect your vehicle and power station.
How Fast Will It Charge My Power Station?
The Charger 2 outputs up to 1,200W (12–56V, 24A) to your power station. Actual charging speed is capped by your power station’s DC or solar input rating, so a station with a lower input limit will charge more slowly.
| Power station | Station’s DC/solar input limit | Max charging from Charger 2 |
|---|---|---|
| AC200PL | 1,200W | Up to 1,200W |
| Apex 300 | 1,200W per XT60 input | Up to 1,200W |
| AC180P | 500W | Up to 500W |
| AC70P | 500W | Up to 500W |
As a guide, 1,200W of combined alternator and solar input can recharge a 2,304Wh AC200PL in roughly two hours of driving in good sun. Real-world times depend on your alternator output, engine speed and solar conditions.
Who Is the Charger 2 For in New Zealand?
- Campervans and motorhomes: arrive at camp with a full battery after a day on the road.
- 4WD and ute touring: keep your fridge and gear powered on multi-day trips away from powered sites.
- Caravans: charge from the tow vehicle while driving and from solar when parked.
- Tradies and mobile businesses: recharge tool batteries and equipment from the work vehicle between jobs.
The Charger 2 is rated IP20, so mount it inside the vehicle in a dry, ventilated spot. We recommend installation by a qualified auto electrician, especially for the alternator and starter battery connections.

Warranty and Support in New Zealand
The Charger 2 comes with a 2-year BLUETTI warranty. Your purchase is also covered by your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. For help checking compatibility with your vehicle and power station, or with a warranty claim, contact the Cybotix Energy team.
What does the BLUETTI Charger 2 do?
The BLUETTI Charger 2 charges a portable power station from your vehicle’s alternator and solar panels at the same time, at up to 1,200W combined. It also connects to an auxiliary battery and, with a BLUETTI DC hub, provides 12V/24V DC output. It turns your vehicle into a fast charging source while you drive.
How fast will the Charger 2 charge my power station?
The Charger 2 delivers up to 1,200W, but your power station’s DC or solar input limit sets the real maximum. An AC200PL or Apex 300 can take the full 1,200W, while an AC180P or AC70P tops out at about 500W. In good conditions, 1,200W can recharge a 2,304Wh AC200PL in roughly two hours of driving.
Which power stations work with the Charger 2?
The Charger 2 works with BLUETTI portable power stations, and BLUETTI states it’s also compatible with most third-party power stations. Its charging output runs from 12 to 56V at up to 24A, so check that your power station’s DC or solar input accepts that range. Contact us if you’re unsure about your model.
Can I charge from the alternator and solar at the same time?
Yes, the Charger 2 combines alternator and solar input automatically, with no switching needed. The alternator port provides up to 800W and the solar port up to 600W, for a combined output of up to 1,200W. When you’re parked, solar alone keeps charging your power station at up to 600W.
Does the Charger 2 work with 24V vehicles?
Yes, the Charger 2 supports both 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems. On a 12V system, the alternator port draws up to 62.5A, and on a 24V system up to 31.3A, giving up to 800W either way. That makes it suitable for trucks, larger motorhomes and some commercial vehicles as well as cars and 4WDs.
What solar panels can I connect to the Charger 2?
You can connect up to 600W of solar panels with an open circuit voltage between 13 and 50V and current up to 20A. Panel voltage rises in cold weather, so on frosty NZ mornings a panel near the 50V limit could exceed it. Leave some margin below 50V, and check your panel’s cold-temperature voltage before connecting.
How do I install the Charger 2 in my vehicle?
We recommend having the Charger 2 installed by a qualified auto electrician, since it connects directly to your vehicle’s alternator circuit and starter battery. Mount it inside the vehicle in a dry, ventilated position, because it’s rated IP20 and isn’t protected against water. It includes a 75A fuse and built-in electrical protection.
What warranty does the BLUETTI Charger 2 have in NZ?
The BLUETTI Charger 2 comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. In New Zealand, your purchase is also covered by your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If you have a problem with your charger, contact Cybotix Energy and our team will help you with troubleshooting or a warranty claim.
