Description

BLUETTI SolarX 4K Solar Charge Controller: 4,000W, up to 500V

The BLUETTI SolarX 4K is a 4,000W MPPT solar charge controller that converts high-voltage solar strings of up to 500V into safe 35–58V DC for BLUETTI power stations and batteries. It works with the Apex 300, AC300, AC500 and B300K, frees up their built-in solar inputs, and suits NZ homes with full-size rooftop or ground-mounted panels.

Key Features and Benefits

Use full-size rooftop panels with your BLUETTI system

Most portable power stations accept only 12–60V of solar input, which limits you to small portable panels. The BLUETTI SolarX 4K accepts strings of full-size panels, such as those in our LONGi solar panel range, at up to 500V open circuit voltage. That lets you charge your BLUETTI system from a permanent rooftop or ground-mounted array.

Up to 4,000W of solar charging

The BLUETTI SolarX 4K accepts up to 4,200W of solar input and delivers up to 4,000W of charging output at 35–58V and up to 80A, enough to recharge a large battery bank in a few hours of good sun.

Up to 99% MPPT efficiency

Maximum Power Point Tracking operates across a wide 120–450V window, keeping your array at its most productive point as light levels change through the day and across the seasons. Charging starts once the string reaches 150V.

Keeps your built-in solar inputs free

The BLUETTI SolarX 4K connects to your system with the included P090D cable. Your power station’s own solar inputs stay available, so you can still plug in portable panels for extra charging.

Scale from 4kW to 12kW

Start with one controller and add more as your system grows. Up to three BLUETTI SolarX 4K units can work together for up to 12kW of solar charging in a larger home backup or off-grid setup.

App monitoring and firmware updates

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and CAN 2.0 connectivity let you monitor solar production in real time, update firmware and troubleshoot through the BLUETTI app.

Quiet and compact

Air cooling keeps noise to around 52dB, and the unit weighs just 7.6kg, measuring 288.4 × 474 × 90.2mm for wall mounting.

Who Is the BLUETTI SolarX 4K For in New Zealand?

  • Home backup systems: charge an Apex 300 and B300K battery bank from rooftop panels, so your backup battery refills every sunny day.
  • Off-grid homes and baches: build a permanent solar-and-battery system without a separate inverter-charger.
  • Lifestyle blocks and rural properties: run a ground-mounted array to keep water pumps and essentials powered.
  • Existing BLUETTI owners: upgrade from portable panels to a full-size fixed array.

Installation in New Zealand

The BLUETTI SolarX 4K handles solar strings of up to 500V DC. In New Zealand, DC above 120V is not extra-low voltage, so wiring the array and controller is prescribed electrical work that must be carried out by a licensed electrician, in line with AS/NZS 5033. The controller is rated IP21, so mount it indoors or in a dry, sheltered location such as a garage or plant room.

Warranty and Support in New Zealand

The BLUETTI SolarX 4K comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Your purchase is also covered by your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. For help planning a rooftop solar system for your BLUETTI power station, contact the Cybotix Energy team.

What does the BLUETTI SolarX 4K do?

The SolarX 4K is a solar charge controller that lets you charge BLUETTI power stations from full-size rooftop or ground-mounted panels. It takes high-voltage solar strings of up to 500V and converts them to safe 35–58V DC, delivering up to 4,000W of charging. Without it, most portable power stations can only use small 12–60V panels.

Which power stations work with the BLUETTI SolarX 4K?

The SolarX 4K works with the BLUETTI Apex 300, AC300 and AC500, and with B300K, B300 and B300S expansion batteries. With the Apex 300, at least one B300K is required. It isn’t on BLUETTI’s compatibility list for the AC200PL, AC180P, AC70P, Elite 400 or Premium series. For those, consider the BLUETTI Charger 2 instead.

How many solar panels can I connect to the SolarX 4K?

It depends on your panels’ voltage. The string must reach 150V to start, operates best between 120V and 450V, and must stay below 500V open circuit voltage, including on cold mornings. For example, eight panels with a 50V Voc give about 400V. Total array power should stay within the 4,200W input limit. Your installer will size the string.

Can I use the SolarX 4K with portable panels like the PV350D?

It’s possible but not practical. The SolarX 4K needs at least 150V to start charging, so you’d need five or more PV350D panels (33V each) connected in series. It’s designed for full-size rooftop or ground-mounted panels. For portable panels, connect them straight to your power station’s built-in solar input instead.

Can I connect more than one SolarX 4K?

Yes, up to three SolarX 4K units can work together, for up to 12kW of solar charging. That suits larger home backup or off-grid systems built around multiple Apex 300 or AC500 units with expansion batteries. Contact us to plan a multi-controller system, since the right setup depends on your batteries and array layout.

Can I install the BLUETTI SolarX 4K myself?

No, in New Zealand the SolarX 4K should be installed by a licensed electrician. Solar strings above 120V DC aren’t extra-low voltage, so wiring them is prescribed electrical work and must follow AS/NZS 5033. The controller is rated IP21, so it needs to be mounted indoors or in a dry, sheltered spot.

What’s the difference between the SolarX 4K and the Charger 2?

The SolarX 4K connects high-voltage rooftop panel strings (150–500V) to the Apex 300, AC300 and AC500, at up to 4,000W. The Charger 2 connects your vehicle’s alternator and portable panels (13–50V) to most BLUETTI power stations, at up to 1,200W. Choose the SolarX 4K for a fixed home system, and the Charger 2 for vans and vehicles.

What warranty does the SolarX 4K have in NZ?

The SolarX 4K comes with a 2-year BLUETTI manufacturer warranty. In New Zealand, your purchase is also covered by your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If you have a problem with your charge controller, contact Cybotix Energy and our team will help you with troubleshooting or a warranty claim.
