Description

BLUETTI B500K Expansion Battery: 5,120Wh of Extra Power for Your BLUETTI System

The BLUETTI B500K is a 5,120Wh LiFePO₄ expansion battery that adds extra capacity to the AC200L, AC200MAX, AC300, AC500 and Apex 300 power stations. Rated for 4,000+ cycles to 80% capacity and backed by a 4-year warranty, it suits NZ home backup, off-grid baches and RV setups.

Key Features and Benefits

5,120Wh of capacity in one pack

One B500K adds more than five times the built-in capacity of a 1kWh portable power station. Paired with an AC200L, it takes the system from 2,048Wh to 7,168Wh, enough to keep essentials running through a long power cut.

LiFePO₄ chemistry for long service life

Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) cells are rated for 4,000+ charge cycles to 80% of original capacity. Built-in temperature management plus overvoltage and overload protection keep the pack operating safely under heavy loads.

Scales with your needs

Start with one pack and add more as your needs grow. An AC300 supports up to four B500K batteries (20,480Wh), and three Apex 300 units with 18 B500K packs reach over 100kWh for whole-home or small-business backup.

Use it with or without a power station

Connected to a BLUETTI power station, the B500K expands its capacity. On its own, it works as a high-capacity DC power bank: charge it with the SolarX 4K or BLUETTI Charger 2, and power DC devices at up to 700W through the Hub D1.

Fixed or mobile installation

Mounting holes let you secure the B500K to a wall or rack in your garage, cupboard, campervan or RV. For a mobile setup, attach it to the BLUETTI Foldable Trolley 2 (sold separately).

Cooling and internal design

A third-generation wireless internal design and efficient cooling fan help keep performance stable during long, heavy discharges.

Who Is the B500K For in New Zealand?

  • Home backup: keep the fridge, freezer, lights, modem and phones running through storm-related outages.
  • Off-grid baches and cabins: store daytime solar energy for evening and overnight use.
  • Campervans and RVs: extend time off-grid between powered sites.
  • Tradies and remote work: run tools and equipment on sites without mains power.

The B500K is not waterproof, so install it indoors or in a dry, sheltered compartment. It can’t be charged below 0°C, which matters for unheated installs in colder regions such as Central Otago or the central North Island in winter.

How Much Capacity Can You Build? Compatibility Guide

Power station Max B500K packs Max system capacity Connection cable
AC200L 2 12,288Wh P090A
AC200MAX 2 12,288Wh P090A
AC300 4 20,480Wh P090A
AC500 6 30,720Wh P150D to P090A (sold separately)
Apex 300 6 per unit Over 100kWh with 3 × Apex 300 + 18 × B500K CA90 for stacks, P090A for separate stacks

You can also mix the B500K with other BLUETTI expansion batteries such as the B300K, within each power station’s limits. See the FAQs below for mixing rules.

How Long Will the B500K Run My Devices?

BLUETTI’s runtime formula is: capacity × 90% depth of discharge × 90% inverter efficiency ÷ (device power + 3W self-consumption). That gives about 4,147Wh of usable energy from one B500K on its own.

Continuous load Estimated runtime (one B500K)
100W About 40 hours
300W About 13.7 hours
500W About 8.2 hours
1,000W About 4.1 hours

Figures are estimates for reference only and exclude your power station’s built-in battery. Actual runtime varies with load, temperature and battery condition.

Warranty and Support in New Zealand

The B500K comes with a 4-year BLUETTI warranty. Register your product on the BLUETTI website after delivery to activate it. Your purchase is also covered by your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. For help with setup, compatibility or a warranty claim, contact the Cybotix Energy team.

Which BLUETTI power stations is the B500K compatible with?

The B500K is compatible with the BLUETTI AC200L, AC200MAX, AC300, AC500 and Apex 300 power stations, and it can be mixed with the B300K expansion battery. The AC200L, AC200MAX and AC300 connect with the P090A cable. The AC500 needs a P150D to P090A cable, sold separately. It does not work with the Elite, EB or AC180 series.

How many B500K batteries can I connect to an AC200L or AC300?

You can connect up to two B500K batteries to an AC200L, for a total system capacity of 12,288Wh, and up to four to an AC300, for 20,480Wh. The AC200MAX also takes two packs. For larger systems, the AC500 and Apex 300 each support up to six B500K batteries.

How long will a BLUETTI B500K run my devices?

One B500K provides roughly 4,147Wh of usable energy, based on BLUETTI’s 90% depth of discharge and 90% inverter efficiency. That runs a 100W load for about 40 hours, a 300W load for about 13.7 hours, or a 1,000W load for about 4 hours. Actual runtime varies with load and temperature.

Can I use the B500K without a power station?

Yes, you can use the B500K on its own as a high-capacity DC power bank with BLUETTI ecosystem components. Charge it with the SolarX 4K or BLUETTI Charger 2, and power DC devices at up to 700W through the Hub D1. To run standard 230V appliances, you’ll need to connect it to a compatible BLUETTI power station.

Can I charge the B500K in freezing temperatures in New Zealand?

No, the B500K can’t be charged below 0°C. It can still power devices down to -20°C. If it’s installed in an unheated garage, bach or campervan during a cold winter, move it somewhere warmer before charging. After a full discharge, BLUETTI recommends leaving it at 10°C or above for 12 hours before recharging.

Can I mix the B500K with B300, B300K or B230 batteries?

It depends on your power station. With the AC300, AC500 and Apex 300, you can mix the B500K with B300K, B300 and B300S packs. With the AC200L, you can only mix it with B300 and B300K packs. With the AC200MAX, you can mix it with B300K, B300, B230 and B210 packs, up to two in total.

Can I use the B500K as a UPS on its own?

No, the B500K can’t be used as a UPS on its own. For uninterruptible power during an outage, connect it to a compatible BLUETTI power station with a UPS function, such as the AC300 or AC500, which handles the switchover. The B500K then extends how long your backed-up devices keep running.

What warranty does the BLUETTI B500K have in NZ?

The BLUETTI B500K comes with a 4-year manufacturer warranty, which you activate by registering the product on BLUETTI’s website after delivery. In New Zealand, your purchase is also covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If you have a problem, contact Cybotix Energy and our team will help you with your claim.

Storage: -20 to 40℃ (-4 to 104℉).

Q13: How long can it run my device?

Runtime = Battery capacity × DoD × η ÷ (Device power +Self consumption) For B500K, both DoD (Depth of Discharge) and η (inverter efficiency) are 90%, and the self consumption is 3 W.

If you run a 100 W light bulb with it, the runtime will be: 5,120 Wh × 98% × 90% ÷ (100 W + 3 W) ≈ 43.8 hr

Note: For reference ONLY, actual results vary.

Q14: Is B500K waterproof?

Please check out our BLUETTI Support YouTube channel for tutorials.

Q17: How long can it run my device?

Running time = Battery capacity × DoD × η ÷ Device rated power DoD refers to Depth of Discharge and η is local inverter efficiency. For B300K, both DoD and η are 90%. If you run a 100W light bulb with it, the running time will be:

2,764.8Wh × 90% × 90% ÷ 100W ≈ 22.39hrs

Note: The above data is for reference ONLY.

Q18: Can I use the B500K without a power station?

Yes, you can pair the B500K with BLUETTI ecosystem components to use it independently. For instance, you can charge it using the SolarX 4K or the Charger 2, and power your DC devices via the Hub D1.
